Parli Vaijnath...

The twelve jyotirlingas are the most significant places of pilgrimage for Hindus. Five of them happen to be in Maharashtra. Shiva has been worshipped in these places for centuries. Vaijnath is one of them.

This place is 130 kms away from Nanded. The temple is east faced having doors in south and North direction. There is a huge pillerless hall upon entrance constructed totally out of sagwan wood.

The significance of this temple is that here God Shankar is residing with Goddess Parvati, so for pilgrims importance of this place is more than Kashi. The famous tale of Satyawan and Sawitri is also believed to be happened here.

Gudhi Padwa, Vijaya Dashmi, and Mahashivratri are special occasions here. Large number of pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka visit here on these occasions.

As Parli is declared as Pilgrim Center, many facilities such as approach roads, parking place, lodging and boarding, beautification of the surroundings, gardens and rest house are taking shape.

A huge Thermal Power Station of capacity of 600MW is also located in Parli. Besides that Parli is also a politically important place. This place is a few hours run from Beed, Osmanabad, Nanded, Latur districts of Marathawada region. State transport Buses as well as private buses have good frequency for Parli.
